Ruliv has been contracted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to provide training in both agroecology and beekeeping in the Amathole Basin. Ruliv will also be assisting these participants to establish community gardens at the selected sites, which will be a sustainable source of organic produce for the local communities.

Training in Agroecology has already been completed and the establishment of the community gardens is in progress. The Beekeeping project is still in its implementation phase, and the selected participants have only received introductory training on how to use beehives and the best areas in which they could establish their hives. A more detailed training is planned to take place over the next few months.
On the 19th of March 2024, Ruliv held a meeting with the participants who had expressed interest in beekeeping. During the meeting, participants were advised to set up a cooperative with a formal structure. Furthermore, participants were encouraged to recruit additional people who are also interested in beekeeping to assist them. After the meeting, the selected beekeeping sites were equipped with beekeeping suits, hives and other equipment necessary for the beekeeping operations.
